It's Up to Each of Us

Matt Walsh as blogged today Nothing Will Get Better Until We Return To God. And, he's absolutely right.

In the early 70's, Gospel (and early CCM) singer Andrae Crouch sang
Jesus is the Answer
For the world today
Above Him there's no other
Jesus is the way.

A simple message, perhaps. But an essential one.

But, Andrae didn't go far enough.  Jesus isn't just the answer for our personal problems. It's the answer for our world.

At the dedication of Solomon's Temple, that same God, YHWH the Lord, told the great king,
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land
As Christians, when we are baptized, we take part in Christ's offices:
  • The Office of Priest: that is the Royal Priesthood - we are ministers to the world. See We Are All Ministers!
  • The Office of Prophet: We are to be witnesses to the world, proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to our station in life.
  • The Office of King: We are to guide those things over which we are given authority, whether it be our individual souls, our family, our job, our community.
And on top of, or perhaps foundational to all that, we must pray - daily. As St Paul wrote the the Thessalonians, Pray without ceasing.
Pray, practice the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.
If each of us did this - if we truly lived out of lives as Christians (and I'm not pointing fingers; I fail as much as the next guy) - think of how this world would change for the better.

It's up to each of us to change our society.
I'm gonna start working on improving my faithfulness today.
What about you?
