Christ is Risen!!! In the Christian East, the greeting between believers during this, the Eastern Season, is just that, Christ is Risen, and the proper response is He is Risen indeed. So, let me say it again. Christ is Risen!!! It’s appropriate that our Lord would take Mom home during the Easter season, because, if it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t even KNOW that Christ is Risen! The Second Sunday of Lent, the Sunday of the Paralytic Heb 1,10-14;2,1-3 Mark 2:1-12 At the start of our Epistle reading today, it speaks of “In the beginning”. That, of course, is talking about the beginning of God’s creation. However, there is another beginning in scripture, the beginning of human civilization. That beginning wasn’t with Adam and Eve, but with their sons, Cain and Abel. Cain was an agriculturist, and Abel raised livestock. They each brought an offering to God. Abel’s was accepted, but Cain’s was rejected. We’re not sure why, except that Cain did something wrong in presenting it. Apparently, pride was what caused Cain to do what he did next; he killed his brother. When God confronted him, Cain’s reaction was “Am I my brother’s keeper”. Obviously, the answer to Cain’s question is a resounding YES. Today’s Gospel shows 4 men acting as their brother’s keeper. What the World Needs Now is Love

15th Sunday after Pentecost 2 Corinthians 4:6-15 Matt 22:35-46 Love God and Love your neighbor. Jesus tells us that on these two commandments hang the entire law and prophets. Christian tradition considers love to be the greatest of the three theological virtues. And our Ukrainian Catholic Catechism tells us that love is the Substance of the Christian Life. In his first letter to the Corinthians, St Paul describes this love. “Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things”. Our Catechism says: The most important virtue, born of faith, is the virtue of divine love, which is granted by God to the Christian as a new creation in Christ.
